I am a Middle East researcher, as well as an educator, campaigner and advocate for greater understanding about this region. I have taught Middle East politics at university for a number of years and am particularly interested in the history and politics of the Levant region – Israel, Palestine, Lebanon and Syria. I’m also admitted as a lawyer and have been involved with international development projects in Israel/Palestine, Lebanon, Syria and Afghanistan.

I’m currently working at better understanding how rebel groups and civilians establish governance under ceasefires in Syria; and on mastering Arabic (any tips appreciated!).

For a number of years I have been interested in facilitating public conversations and dialogue because I believe that access, education, ideas and stories create change. You can see some of those efforts here, on community radio, through my journalism and via the unadulterated medium of Twitter.
